Ethereum L2 Network Lisk Chain Shuts Down on November 2 as New Lisk Pivots to Enterprise Finance Platform

Analysis
Lisk's shutdown of its Ethereum L2 chain converts a general-purpose rollup into a corporate treasury and payments product, with LSK demoted from gas and staking asset to a loyalty token on Ethereum. The immediate supply effect is a burn of roughly 5.2 million LSK from the staking rewards contract, following the 100 million LSK burned in September, against a stated 300 million total supply and zero inflation. The real test is whether enterprise demand for accounts, payments, and approvals across 100-plus countries materializes before 2027, when firms are expected to earn and use LSK. Watch for the final burn transaction and updated supply disclosures, how existing Lisk Chain users and bridge balances are migrated or abandoned, and whether any exchange delisting or token-migration notices follow.

PANews, November 3: According to the official blog, Ethereum L2 network Lisk announced that Lisk Chain shut down on November 2, 2026, marking the official end of Lisk Chain and the launch of the new Lisk—a modern finance platform for enterprises. LSK will continue as Lisk's loyalty token, running on Ethereum.

Lisk Chain was shut down in phases, with user services stopped first, including Lisk Portal and Lisk Bridge. After the shutdown, approximately 5.2 million LSK remaining in the staking rewards contract will be burned, including unallocated rewards and rewards that were earned but not claimed, further reducing total supply after the 100 million LSK burned in September. The new Lisk is positioned as a modern finance platform for enterprises, integrating accounts, payments, and approvals into a single workspace, supporting fiat and stablecoins across more than 100 countries. LSK has a total supply of 300 million and an inflation rate of 0%, and starting in 2027, enterprises will earn and use LSK on Lisk.
